Visalia, Tulare County
Visalia was founded in 1852, which makes it the oldest town in the San Joaquin Valley between Stockton and Los Angeles. Its downtown remains unusually lively for a valley city, with restaurants and shops along Main Street. The Fox Theatre, opened in 1930 with a clock tower and a ceiling painted with stars, still hosts concerts and films.
